About this role
The Wolf Creek Dam Project is a marine based structural steel and machinery refurbishment job. The construction activities include AWS D1.5 field welding of Spillway Gate, unique temporary hoisting systems and complex planning. Construction operations began in 2024 and are scheduled to be completed in 2028. Responsibilities: The Project Engineer is primarily responsible for the planning and execution of construction activities. From developing construction work plans to supporting Superintenden. This is a welding and fabrication opportunity with American Bridge Company in Jamestown, Russell County. Welding and metal fabrication — joining, cutting, and shaping steel and other metals. Welders read fabrication drawings and produce strong, precise joints in shop or field settings.
What you'll do
- Weld using MIG, TIG, or stick as required
- Read and interpret fabrication drawings
- Cut and grind metal to spec
- Inspect welds for strength and quality
- Follow shop safety and PPE requirements
