About this role

Welder Helper - Steel America \n \n Purpose: \n \n \nSteel America, a division of Colonna's Shipyard, is seeking a Welder Helper with flux-core (FCAW) welding certifications to support operations in Norfolk, VA.\n \n \n \n \n Weld together metal components of products, as specified by blueprints, weld symbols, material markings, work order, welding procedures, or verbal instructions, using welding equipment. \n Interpret and lay out blueprints, check and fit mat. This is a welding and fabrication opportunity with Colonna's Shipyard, Inc. in Virginia Beach, Virginia Beach City. Welding and metal fabrication — joining, cutting, and shaping steel and other metals. Welders read fabrication drawings and produce strong, precise joints in shop or field settings.

  • Read and interpret fabrication drawings
  • Cut and grind metal to spec
  • Inspect welds for strength and quality
