Avoid Job Scams & Protect Your Information
Real jobs never ask you to pay to work.
Spot the warning signs of a job scam and learn exactly what personal information you should never share. ChambaNOW is always free for workers.
Be careful when someone:
- Asks you to pay before you can begin working
- Requests your password or verification code
- Sends a check and asks you to return part of the money
- Asks you to purchase gift cards or cryptocurrency
- Refuses to identify themselves
- Gives an address that does not match the job
- Offers unusually high pay without explaining the work
- Pressures you to act immediately
- Asks you to transport unknown packages
- Requests unnecessary identity documents
- Tries to move all communication away from the platform
- Asks you to perform illegal or clearly unsafe activity
ChambaNOW is free for workers. A hirer should not ask you to pay a ChambaNOW worker registration, application, placement, or membership fee.
Protect Your Personal Information
Share only the information reasonably required for a legitimate job. Never send:
- Your ChambaNOW password
- One-time verification codes
- Debit-card PINs
- Online-banking credentials
- Full credit-card information
- Photographs of personal checks
- Unnecessary immigration documents
- Your Social Security number through an ordinary chat message
Some legitimate employers may need tax, identity, licensing, background-check, or employment-eligibility information. Confirm that you are dealing with the actual business, understand why the information is required, and use a secure method to provide it.
ChambaNOW will never ask for your password through a job offer or worker-to-hirer chat.
